The Role

Mentor is a drug prevention charity that aims to build resilience, empower young people and prevent risky behaviours associated with substance misuse particularly among the most vulnerable. We promote evidence-based approaches through research and education, programme delivery and influencing policy.

Key responsibilities of the candidate

CEO and senior Leadership team support:

– Managing diaries and scheduling meetings

– Dealing with phone and email enquiries

– Organising travel and accommodation

– Managing expenses

– Preparing briefs and agendas for meetings and taking minutes as required

– Undertaking any other duties as may be reasonably expected and required

Finance administration:

– Managing expenses of the organisation

– Recording items of income and expenditure into the Sage accounting system

– Liaising with the payroll provider and facilitating prompt payment of salaries and NI to HMRC

– Administering the Company’s credit card within the limits set by the provider and reconciling to the accounting system

– Managing all payments & direct debits in the bank account and reconciling to the accounting system

– Assisting the Head of Finance with monthly and quarterly management accounts and finance board packs


You should be able to demonstrate that you have prior experience in:

– Microsoft Office products including word and excel

– Arranging meetings

– Booking travel and liaising with various suppliers

– Handling finances including invoicing and processing expenses

– Working in a team

– Taking minutes of meetings

The following skills are also desirable

– Basic accounting including data entry into SAGE
