Mentor to help develop Early Help Model for kinship care

The Department for Education (DfE) announced the outcome of the VCS National Prospectus 2015-16 on 25 March 2015, which included a proposal for an Early Help Model for Kinship Care, submitted by a consortium of organisations led by Grandparents Plus, with contributions from Mentor, 4Children and the Childhood Bereavement Network (part of the National Children's Bureau).

New Year’s Honours for Kinsfolk Carer

EDINBURGH, 1 JANUARY 2015 – Among the New Year's Honours, Edinburgh resident Yvonne Ramsey has become only the second ever citizen to be awarded the British Empire Medal for services to kinship care. The medal, which is awarded for meritorious civil service, recognises Yvonne's exceptional dedication and relentless hard work in supporting kinship carers in Edinburgh and throughout Scotland.
