New Psychoactive Substances National Conference 2017

About this conference

Until the Psychoactive Substances Act was passed in May last year, the supply of these New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) had been expanded through high street shops and dozens of websites. The main supply lines have effectively been closed down which has had a very significant impact on availability and level of exposure of harm to young people. However, the legal change could not eradicate the market and there remains problematic use among vulnerable groups such as the homeless and those in prison which needs addressing urgently.

This conference aims to take an objective view of the success of the Act and examine continuing threats to our communities caused by the use of NPS. There are certainly sectors where there are significant problems remaining. We want to focus on what are the best means of overcoming them.
